Testimonies from Encountered San Antonio Couples

"We were at a point in our marriage where we were a little lost. We were blaming one another for what was ‘wrong’. We were searching for answers and expecting the other to be the first to change. I guess we thought a weekend could help us figure out who was going to take the first step! Our relationship as well as the relationship with God began to fade. We let other people, responsibilities, and things come between us. We got lost. We forgot what were supposed to be concentrating on… We were coasting through our marriage.
Our weekend was fantastic. It was definitely an eye opener. The greatest thing we took away from our weekend was that our marriage takes constant care. There is a saying, “a wedding is a day but a marriage is a lifetime.” After our ME weekend we understand an ME Weekend is a taste of a great marriage but staying plugged into the lifestyle and community builds a great marriage.

WWME has inspired us to be the best couple we can be. We experience the gifts of loving deeply and loving on purpose just as God wanted us to. We hope to spread the word, so every couple we know goes on a revitalizing weekend like this!"

-Robert & Yvonne ME Weekend: 2/2004

Jacqueline: Charles and I always wanted to attend a WWME weekend when we found out about it through a Pulpit talk at Mass. It was a way for us to bond and strengthen our new marriage. We thought "Ä weekend away sounds great! We'll have to make time for that. . . eventually." Well time went on and while it was still in the back of our minds, we had not set a date. It wasn't until we were pregnant with our first child and Charles found out that he would have to undergo heart surgery, that we were determined to attend an WWME weekend.

Charles: Our ME weekend was everything that we thought our lives needed and more. It wasn't anything that we were expecting. She wrote technical papers for work all the time, but that type of work doesn't require emotions. It was an emotional weekend to say the least and little did we know that the weekend was the beginning of a new intimate journey. In addition, we have become part of a wonderful and loving community of couples that undergo our same day to day trials. We share our faith, food and fellowship--what more could you ask for? WWME has truly changed our lives and we thank God for the blessing He has betowed upon us through this organization.

We recommend attending a Marriage Encounter weekend because it brings couples a new perspective on the strengths and weaknesses in their marriage. It literally changes lives.

The Weekend not only taught us to speak more lovingly, we learned how to listen!
